Where Love Lives, and Hope Abides

Ms. Gussie’s Place

A Place for Learning and Growth

Hope House’s weekday educational program, Ms. Gussie’s Place, provides a supportive and enriching environment where children with medical and developmental needs can thrive. Through tailored educational activities, individualized attention, and compassionate care, children are empowered to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The program features a variety of interactive learning tools and sensory activities designed to meet each child’s unique needs, fostering both independence and confidence. Families gain peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in safe, nurturing hands, surrounded by a team dedicated to their well-being and growth.

At Ms. Gussie’s Place, the focus extends beyond academics, emphasizing the importance of building relationships, encouraging communication, and celebrating milestones. The program offers a well-rounded experience in a joyful, caring environment where every child is seen, valued, and supported on their journey to reaching their fullest potential. Families can feel confident that their children are growing not only in skills but also in love, trust, and joy.

Services

Individual Intervention

Individual Intervention

Intervention includes a trained teacher working one-on-one with each student and parent. In these sessions we concentrate on specific strategies, designed to help our students to be all that they can be. All ages are welcomed to these bi-monthly or weekly sessions.

Wake Up and Sing

Wake Up and Sing

A biweekly class led by a music specialist and family counselor engages students and their parents through movement, tactile exploration, singing, storytelling, and fun. The class fosters parent-child bonding while teaching families to address important topics and advocate for their children.

Veronica’s 14-Year Journey with Her Son

For 14 years, Veronica has witnessed her son thrive at Southwest Christian Care’s Hope House. What started as a playground for her son turned into a place where he gained friends, classmates, and a second family. Although his doctors believed he couldn’t hear or see, the moment his teacher played the guitar, his eyes lit up, filling Veronica with hope. Now, he can push buttons, grab objects, and make movements that show his incredible progress.
