Help Build a Boardwalk

Connect the Garden of Hope with our Nature Trail

Dr. James W. Dyer, Jr. and Byron F. Harper, Jr. M.D.

Two lifelong friends, Byron F. Harper, Jr. M.D. and pastor Dr. James W. Dyer, Jr. were the dreamers and visionaries behind the initial concept of Southwest Christian Care. To honor their memory, we began our Founders Legacy Campaign in 2008.

Through this campaign, we have built Byron & Jim’s Place, a multi-faceted building to house our Senior Care Program and Hope Suites to serve hospice families with a place to stay near their loved ones.

The campaign also included 5 acres to be developed… expanding our existing therapeutic Garden of Hope to include a Woodland Walking Trail with benches and picnic tables which is now complete.

Byron & Jim’s Place

After an extensive process of permitting, floodplain studies, and topographic studies, we are ready to move forward with construction of a boardwalk by Backwoods Bridges, a Florida company that specializes in bridges and boardwalks.

We are also making changes and upgrades on our existing nature trail.

The boardwalk, which has been staked on our campus, will be 610 feet long, 8 feet wide and will traverse the wetland area to connect with the nature trail.

This beautiful new feature on our campus will expand opportunities for our hospice families, special needs children and senior adults, as well as our community neighbors to enjoy the benefits of being out in nature to observe the trees, creek and wildlife. Students from local schools will be able to enjoy this environmental learning resource.

We invite you to become a part of creating this wonderful resource by supporting the final phase of our Founders Legacy Campaign.
