28 Years of Caring In 1983, the dream of building a caring hospice ministry began to unfold as a small staff and loving volunteers began providing hospice homecare from a Sunday School classroom at Southwest Christian Church in East Point, Georgia. The current hospice facility was built in 1987 and is located on seven beautifully-landscaped acres in Union City. Southwest Christian Hospice became the first full-service hospice in the state of Georgia, providing homecare and center-based care. Hope House Childrens Respite Center Our dream for the ministry continued to unfold in 1996 with the initiation of respite care services for families with medically fragile children and the completion of our one-of-a-kind Hope House Childrens Respite Center. Hope House opened its doors in June 2002 and is a very special place where the focus is on making medically fragile children feel at home, while giving their families a much-needed break from the stress and exhaustion that results from providing constant care. We are one of the few organizations nationally that specializes in respite care for this particular population. DayBreak A Day Program for Seniors The dream continues, in 2007 the DayBreak program begins. DayBreak is a ministry for Senior adults with varying degrees of memory loss and Senior adults seeking group fellowship. The DayBreak program is structured to meet cognitive and social needs of senior adults. The program provides a loving and caring Christian environment that includes fellowship, fun and most importantly stimulating and creative activities geared toward their unique abilities. |
